Be aware of the following tax changes
| | | | | | | | | | SERVICE UPDATE | | | Hello NYANGO, | | | Beginning May 1, 2025, if you are paid in non-BRL currency and you offer Google Play Store app and in-app purchases made via any available form of payment by customers in Brazil, Google will deduct the full cost of Brazilian withholding taxes (WHT), up to 25% of the customer purchase price, from your earnings. Previously, Google was subsidizing up to 30% of your cost of Brazilian WHT applicable to these sales. If you are paid in BRL currency, the changes described above will not impact you. | | Google has enabled several developer features that may allow you to reduce or eliminate the amount of Brazilian WHT deducted by Google from your earnings: | | | | 1. | | Brazil withholding taxes are deducted from your earnings if you are paid in non-BRL currency. If you are a Brazilian developer paid in non-BRL currency, you may be eligible to migrate to a BRL account. You can find additional details about migrating to a BRL account and currency support for Brazilian Real here. | | | 2. | | If you are a tax resident in a supported country that has a Double Tax Treaty with Brazil and you provide your tax information to Google, you may be eligible for a treaty rate of withholding on IRRF. There is no impact to CIDE, which continues to apply. You can find additional details about treaty rates here. | | | 3. | | Google Play developers may be eligible to configure multiple merchant profiles or payment accounts (up to 20) from a single developer account in Play Console as part of an Early Access Program. This feature adds flexibility for developers to create payment routing rules per app based on buyer country. Disbursements will be made in the currency associated with the merchant profile / payment account. You can email product-ops-play@google.com and connect with your account manager to find out more about this Early Access Program. | | | | | | If you have already submitted your tax treaty information to Google, no further action is required. For more information about WHT, please visit the Help Center. If you have any other questions, please consult your tax advisor. | | | Thank you, | | | Your Google Play team | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
